Venkatesh was named in the Indian T20 squad after his very first IPL season and then in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and got a chance to make his international debut in the Jaipur T20 against New Zealand on Wednesday.

Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has expressed hope that he will live up to the expectations ahead of his first T20 match. Venkatesh told ‘BCCI.TV’ ahead of the T20 International against New Zealand, “I want to learn as much as I can in which Rahul sir is a legend and he has a lot to share things.” Before the match, Rohit Sharma handed over the cap of Team India to Iyer.

“How we learn things will depend on what we are asked to do,” he said. I have not brought anything in my mind, so whatever will be taught, I will learn it in that way. Captain Rohit Sharma has given him some important tricks and it was definitely a special moment.
