- Renowned Sufi singer Irshad Mohammad presented his Kalam at the ceremony
Higher Education and Languages Minister Pargat Singh inaugurated the month-long celebrations for promotion and propagation of Punjabi mother tongue under Punjabi Month-2021 at Bhasha Bhawan on Punjab Day. He said that the old project would be used for the intellectual development of Punjabis through digitization of language department through latest technologies. He said that 70 lakh has already been given for the project. This will buy computers etc.
He said that Punjabi is the mother tongue and Punjab is not shared by any one person, but is common to all, so only joint efforts will be successful. Karamjit Kaur, Director, Department of Languages, Punjab gave information about the activities of the department and the books published including its performance. During the month various functions will be organized in different areas of the department Punjab. Renowned thinker and Shiromani Punjabi critic Dr. Surjit Singh Bhatti also gave his views.
MLA of Halka Ghanaur Madan Lal Jalalpur, Punjabi Sahitya Ratna Dr. Ratan Singh Jaggi and Punjab State Social Welfare Board Chairperson Gursharan Kaur Randhawa graced the occasion as special guests. Vice Chancellor of Punjabi University Prof. Arvind presided. While the Vice Chancellor of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University Dr. Karamjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans and SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar were also specially present.
