Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is surprised to see Rahul Dravid join Team India as head coach. He said that Dravid should have given time to his family for the time being. Ponting also confirmed that he was asked by some people to coach Team India during the IPL, but he flatly refused.

During a conversation with the Grade Cricketers podcast, Ponting said – I am shocked that Dravid has accepted the position of coach. I hear from many people that he was very happy to be the coach of the Indian U-19 team. I don’t know much about his family life, but his children are still young.

He will definitely do well for Team India. Ponting also told that he was offered to become the coach of Team India.
Ponting had turned down the coach’s offer
He said- During the IPL, I had a conversation with many people about becoming the head coach. The people I spoke to were eager to coach me in any way possible. He wanted me to become the coach of Team India. My first reply to this was that I will not be able to give time to the team. It doesn’t mean that I won’t be coaching in IPL.
Ricky Ponting is the coach of Delhi
Ponting is currently the head coach of Delhi Capitals in the IPL. Under his supervision, Delhi has reached the playoffs twice in a row. His team was the runner up in the 2020 IPL. At the same time, in 2021, the Delhi team was out of the playoff itself.
