Renault Kwid achieve 4 lakhs unit sales milestone in India

New Delhi, Auto Desk. French automaker Renault has crossed the 4,00,000 unit sales mark of its entry-level hatchback Kwid in India. Launched in 2015, the hatchback was initially liked for its compact SUV-ish design and affordability. The model received its first mid-life update in October 2019, followed by its BS6 edition in January 2020. Recently, the automaker has offered dual airbags as standard fitment in the Kwid model lineup. With this update, it complies with the existing and upcoming safety regulations in India.

In addition, the company introduced a new dual-tone (white with black roof) paint scheme on the Kwid Climber Edition. The model also gets electric ORVMs and day and night IRVMs. Currently, the Renault Kwid comes with four trims – RXE, RXL, RXT, RXT (O). Apart from this, it is available in 10 variants. There are 4 Climber variants, which come with 1.0L MT (O), 1.0L MT DT, 1.0L AMT (O) and 1.0L AMT (O) DT. Talking about their price, its price ranges from Rs 5.16 lakh to Rs 5.19 lakh and Rs 5.56 lakh to Rs 5.59 lakh.

The entry-level RXE variant of the hatchback is priced at Rs 4.11 lakh and the top-end Climber 1.0L AMT (O) DT is priced at Rs 5.59 lakh. Apart from this, customers have four automatic variants, which are priced between Rs 4.98 lakh and Rs 5.59 lakh. All above prices are ex-showroom.

The Renault Kwid is being offered with two engine options – 0.8L, 3-cylinder petrol and 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol. The smaller engine is capable of producing 54 Bhp of power and 72 Nm of peak torque, while the higher-end trim is capable of producing 68 Bhp of power and 91 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual (standard) and AMT (only for the 1.0-litre variant). This popular hatchback car from the company comes with 8.0-management features of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and better. For safety, it gets ABS (Anti-braking System) along with Battery EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution), system etc.
