Azim Rafiq accuses Alex Hales of

Former England cricketer Alex Hales has denied all racial allegations made by Azim Rafiq. Also, he said that taking my dog’s name (Kevin) had any racial connotation in it, I don’t know.

Hales issued a statement saying that after hearing the allegations against me, I categorically deny that there was any racial connotation in the name of my dog.

Hales named the dog Kevin – Azim

Earlier, Rafiq told a British parliamentary committee that Hales had named his dog Kevin because he was black. Rafiq said that Hales usually used to call Asian players as Kevin, whatever his name was.

Hales further said that I have full respect and sympathy for both the issues Azim Rafiq has raised and what he has to endure.

Adil Rashid had leveled allegations against Michael Vaughan

Earlier, Adil Rashid had claimed that he had heard Michael Vaughan making lewd remarks towards Asian players. After this Vaughan denied these allegations. The allegations made by former Yorkshire team player Azim Rafiq are from the 2009 season when Michael Vaughan used to play cricket for Yorkshire.

Other Yorkshire players, officials were also accused by Azim Rafiq, but he had settled with Yorkshire Cricket Club shortly after making the allegations.

Ebony Randfort Brent, the first black female batsman to play international cricket for England, revealed 20 years after her debut that she too had been subjected to racism during her career.

No black woman had played cricket for England before Brent, a former South London-born batsman. In such a situation, when he was given a chance, people were very angry and asked him to leave the country by writing letters. Brent has shared one such letter on social media.
