The carmaker said the newly launched MPV will not be for sale as a passenger vehicle, but will be aimed at the Indian B2B segment. BYD has been present in India since 2007. Based in Chennai, BYD has two plants in India, where it manufactures electric buses and trucks. Apart from this, the company manufactures mobile components, solar panels, battery energy storage and much more.

The BYD e6 uses a 71.7 kWh Blade battery. The company claims that this car can cover a maximum distance of 520 km (WLTC cycle) on a single full charge, depending on the driving conditions of the city. The car’s battery powers a 70 kWh electric motor that generates 180 Nm of torque. The top speed of the car can reach up to 130 kmph.

The company claims that the DC fast charger can charge the battery from 30 percent to 80 percent within 35 minutes. BYD says that the electric MPV e6 can be charged via both AC and DC fast charging features. The BYD e6 comes with features like touchscreen infotainment system, 6-way adjustable driver and front passenger seats and leather upholstery. Currently, the MPV segment in India is dominated by the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Innova Crysta, Renault Triber and Mahindra Marazzo. In the Indian car market, it will compete with these cars.

BYD has reported that the new e6 electric MPV will be available in major metro cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, besides Vijayawada, Ahmedabad and Kochi among others.

The BYD e6 is offered with a warranty of 3 years or 1.25 lakh kms, battery cell warranty of 8 years or 5 lakh kms and traction motor warranty of 8 years or 1.5 lakh kms, whichever is earlier.
