Assandh (Karnal). A gravel-filled dumper and a diesel oil-filled tanker collided head-on near the village Gangatehri base on National Highway 709-A late on Sunday evening. The oil tanker caught fire in the accident. The entire cabin of the tanker was filled with fire. Out of the two drivers sitting in it, one jumped out and saved life, while the other driver got burnt alive inside the cabin. However, all the people sitting in the dumper survived safely.
According to the information, a dumper carrying gravel was coming towards Assandh at around 6 pm on Sunday. On the other hand, a tanker filled with diesel oil was going to Ellenabad from Assandh side. As the oil tanker reached near Gangatehri base, both the vehicles collided head-on. The collision was so severe that the tanker’s cabin caught fire and the 62-year-old driver, Gurdeep alias Deepan Singh, resident of the bus stand near Ellenabad, was burnt alive in the cabin itself. While the other driver, Lakhwinder resident of Ellenabad, who was in the cabin of the tanker, somehow jumped and saved his life. He was injured by this. At the same time, two drivers and one operator of the dumper survived safely. On receiving the information, the police and fire brigade team reached the spot. When a car tried to douse the fire, the water ran out. When the car went to get water again, the cabin started blazing again. Then fire brigade vehicles had to be called from Rajound (Kaithal) and Karnal and Nissing. Then the fire was brought under control around late night. The body of the driver could not be pulled out even till 10 o’clock in the night due to the tanker being very hot.
Luckily the fire didn’t reach the diesel tank.
Asandh. This tanker was loaded with diesel. The cabin was burning with smoke, in which the driver was also burnt alive. Fortunately, the fire was put out before it could leave the cabin and reach the tank. Otherwise, there would have been a loss of diesel worth lakhs of rupees, as well as the fire had assumed a terrible form, then the damage could have been more. About 18 thousand liters of diesel is being told in the tanker.

Diesel was brought from Panipat Refinery, had to go to Nadda Pump Ellenabad
Lakhwinder Singh, the second driver aboard the tanker, told that he and his uncle Gurdeep used to drive two different vehicles of Nadda Pump located in Ellenabad. Today a car had come, so both had come in the same car. They were going back to Ellenabad pump after filling diesel from Panipat refinery. Then an accident happened on the way.
